The Code of Criminal Procedure contains the rules that the police, the Public Prosecution Service, the courts and lawyers have to obey when dealing with criminal cases. It also regulates the legal position of suspects and defendants. The Code was first introduced in 1926 and is now being updated. This will make it easier to understand for those working in the criminal justice system and for the general public.
