NATO Summit 2025

From 24 to 26 June 2025 the Netherlands will host the NATO Summit in the World Forum in The Hague. At the previous summit, in Vilnius (Lithuania), our allies asked the Netherlands to organise the 2025 summit. This is the first time since NATO’s founding in 1949 that the Netherlands is hosting a NATO Summit.

Mr. Truman – Former President of the United States:
If there is anything certain today, if there is anything inevitable in the future, it is the will of the people of the world for freedom and for peace.

For the Netherlands this is an opportunity to further bolster our position as a dependable ally. The summit is a key moment in which NATO makes decisions that are important to our peace and security, especially in these turbulent times, with Russia waging a large-scale war on the European continent following its illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Summit attendees

The NATO Summit will be attended by approximately 45 heads of state and government, 45 foreign ministers, 45 defence ministers and 6,000 delegates. About 2,000 journalists from all over the world will also be on hand to cover the event. A total of around 8,500 people are expected to take part.

Public Forum

The NATO Summit will also include a Public Forum (by invitation), which will be held at a venue within the event grounds. This is an opportunity for young people, politicians, journalists, opinion makers, academics and experts to engage in debate about the issues discussed at the NATO Summit. Approximately 500 people will attend the Public Forum.

Major logistical operation

The organisation of the NATO Summit is one of the largest logistical operations in the Netherlands in decades. A large number of (government) organisations are involved, such as various ministries, Rijkswaterstaat, the Police, and Schiphol.

About NATO

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an alliance of 32 countries from Europe and North America. It was established in 1949 to ensure the security and freedom of its members and to promote stability around the world. In 2024 NATO will celebrate its 75th anniversary. This year’s summit will be held from 9 to 11 July in Washington, DC.
