Applying for maternity pay
During your maternity leave, you are entitled to maternity pay. This pay will last as long as your leave.

Maternity pay if you are receiving benefits
You are entitled to maternity pay if you receive one of the following benefits:
- Unemployment benefits;
- Sickness benefits;
- Wage-related benefits (WGA).
You can apply for maternity pay at UWV (Employee Insurance Agency). You will receive the maternity pay instead of your current benefits.
Maternity pay if you have an employer
Are you in paid employment? Your employer can apply for maternity pay at UWV. Usually, your employer receives the benefits, and they will then continue to pay your salary during your leave.
Maternity pay if you are self-employed
Are you self-employed? You can apply for maternity pay (ZEZ-uitkering) at UWV.
