Last week, the NATO summit was held in Washington where the alliance was founded. The Netherlands was one of the founding members.

Dick Schoof – Prime Minister:
NATO was founded 75 years ago. The Netherlands was one of the first allies to be involved, in 1949. Now, 75 years later, NATO still proves to be crucial for our security, for our freedom, for our democracy. NATO is the main insurance policy the people of the Netherlands have. It guarantees our security.

Voiceover:
We are proud of hosting the NATO summit in the Netherlands in 2025. Preparations are already in full swing because organising the summit is a huge operation. This is why a team went to Washington to learn from the Americans' experiences in terms of logistics, facilities and security.

Ruben Brekelmans – Minister of Defence:
The NATO summit in The Hague will be a very large gathering. It requires strict security measures. The ministry of Defence will help with this. We will deploy our people and provide equipment where necessary.
