Conditions for the Doctoral Grant for Teachers
To receive the grant, you must meet the following conditions, amongst others:
- You have a teaching qualification (in Dutch).
- You have a permanent position at the school where you teach.
The Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek – NWO (Dutch Research Council) is responsible for awarding the Doctoral Grant for Teachers. The NWO sets out all the conditions for the Doctoral Grant for Teachers (PDF) (in Dutch).
Applying for a Doctoral Grant for Teachers
You apply to the NWO for the Doctoral Grant for Teachers (in Dutch). There are 2 application rounds each year, 1 in spring and 1 in autumn.
Receiving a Doctoral Grant for Teachers
You do not receive the grant yourself. The funds go to your employer. Your school can use those funds to replace you for half of your lessons over a period of 5 years, at a maximum of 40 % of the number of hours you work each week.
