Deregistration from the Dutch vehicle registration system when exporting a vehicle
If you are exporting your vehicle with a Dutch licence plate you must deregister the registration number from the Dutch vehicle registration system. You can then cancel the third-party insurance, the motor vehicle tax and the general technical vehicle inspection (APK).

Deregistration from the Dutch vehicle registration system
You must contact the RDW in order to deregister your vehicle from the Dutch vehicle registration system.
If your vehicle is already outside the Netherlands and you have not deregistered your car, then you can deregister your vehicle from outside the Netherlands. Ask the local government if you need an export certificate for this. An export certificate is proof that your vehicle has been deregistered from the vehicle registration register at the RDW.
