Our daily lives are influenced by what happens in space, much more so than we realise. For example, space technology enables us to forecast the weather and make mobile telephone calls. Space satellites can detect oil spills and help farmers to use arable land in better ways. Space research is becoming more and more important. It increases knowledge, creates jobs and enhances our national security. That is why the government, businesses and knowledge institutions in the Netherlands are investing in space research.
