Nuclear energy
About 10% of the electricity used in the Netherlands comes from a nuclear power plant. There are no plans to build any new nuclear power plants.
Nuclear energy in the Netherlands
The Borssele nuclear power station is the only operational nuclear power plant in the Netherlands. It has an annual output of about 4 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of nuclear energy: enough to provide electricity to over 1 million homes.
The Netherlands also imports electricity from nuclear power plants elsewhere, notably France and Germany.
