Population screening programmes make it possible to detect certain life-threatening diseases at an early stage. This increases the chances of a full recovery. The Dutch government provides population screening programmes. The Centre for Population Screening (Centrum voor Bevolkingsonderzoek, CvB) directs, manages and coordinates the national population screening programs.
