Appointing a guardian for your minor child
If you want to appoint a guardian for your minor child, you have two options. You can appoint a guardian in the district court’s parental responsibility register or you can appoint a guardian in your will. A guardian has responsibility for a minor child after the death of his/her parent(s).

Appointing a guardian in the parental responsibility register
You can appoint a guardian by entering his/her name in the parental responsibility register. You need to complete the online form for appointing a guardian after you die on the Rechtspraak.nl website. Appointing a guardian in the register is free of charge.
Appointing a guardian in a will
You can also have the notary record in a will who you want to appoint as guardian for your child or children.
