Globalisation is one of the four priorities of the Netherlands' cultural policy. Leading cultural institutions must be able to perform internationally and measure up to their counterparts abroad. Moreover, cultural diplomacy has a positive impact on foreign relations and the Netherlands' economic position. Culture and sport are important instruments for helping us achieve development goals, for example in the fields of sexual and productive health and rights or water and sanitation.
