As a foreign national, do I need to inform the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) if I move?
If you are a foreign national with a residence permit and you are relocating within the Netherlands, you need to inform the municipality that you are moving to. You must do this promptly. If you do not do this within the required time, you will also need to inform the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) of your change of address. If you move abroad you must inform the IND before you leave.
Moving within a municipality
You must inform the municipality of your change of address. The municipality will automatically forward your new address to the IND. Ask the municipality how long you have to inform them. If you do not inform the municipality within the required time, you must inform the IND of your change of address yourself.
Moving to another municipality in the Netherlands
If you are moving to another municipality in the Netherlands, you must inform the new municipality of your change of address. The municipality will automatically forward your new address to the IND.
Ask the municipality how long you have to inform them. If you do not inform the municipality within the required time, you must inform the IND of your change of address yourself.
Moving abroad
If you move abroad you must inform the IND before you leave. Ask the IND when you need to inform them of your departure.
Changes of address must also be submitted for children
If you have children, you will also need to submit changes of address on their behalf. If your children are aged 12 or older, they can also do this themselves.
