When and how can I change my health insurance?

In November, your health insurer will send you your insurance policy for the coming year. It's important to read the policy very carefully, especially if you think your healthcare needs could change within the next year. Insurers may also change policy conditions from year to year, meaning your coverage could change even if you keep the same policy. Even if you do not expect your healthcare needs to change, it's always wise to check whether your policy is still right for you.

Changing your health insurance policy or choosing a new insurer

If your health insurance policy no longer meets your needs, you can change it or switch to a different insurer. You can arrange a new health insurance policy online or by telephone. If you take out a new health insurance policy by 31 December, the new insurer will cancel your old policy for you. If you cancel your existing health insurance yourself by 31 December, you have until 1 February to take out a new one.
