The programme targets three regions: the Sahel, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Horn of Africa.
Horn of Africa
- 61% of the 213 million inhabitants are under 25;
- Education is lacking in quality and has no link with the world of work;
- Compared to young men, young women experience poorer access to work and poorer working conditions;
- Entrepreneurs are hampered by lack of access to finance and telecommunications;
- The agriculture and food sectors could potentially create many jobs, but the sectors hold little appeal for young people.
