How can I help prevent a terrorist attack?
You can help reduce the chance of a terrorist attack by keeping an eye out for suspicious situations and reporting a suspicious situation if you see one.
Be vigilant
Be alert to suspicious situations, such as an unattended suitcase or someone showing an unusual level of interest in security measures. Be extra vigilant in places where there are large numbers of people, for example metro and train stations, festivals and concert venues, and shopping centres.
Emergency number
In the event of an emergency, call 112.
Reporting suspicious situations that are not an emergency
If the situation is not urgent, you can report suspicious situations or suspected terrorist activities to:
- The police. Call the non-emergency number 0900 8844. You can also inform the police using the online reporting form (in Dutch).
- The reporting hotline ‘Meld Misdaad Anoniem’. To report crime anonymously, call the non-emergency number 0800 7000 or fill in the online reporting form on Meld Misdaad Anoniem (in Dutch).
