How long do asylum seekers stay in an asylum seekers' centre (AZC)?
How long an asylum seeker stays in an AZC will depend on their status.
Individuals have a right to shelter from the moment they apply for asylum until a decision is made on their application. Some people live in an AZC while their applications are being processed. Others living there already have a residence permit, but are waiting for a permanent place to live in the Netherlands. Another group living in the AZC are people who have to leave the Netherlands. Each of these groups will stay in the AZC for a different length of time.
