Beware of telephone fraud
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BZ) has received reports of fraudsters posing on the phone as BZ staff or other government officials. These fraudsters will try to trick you into transferring money. They use a phone number that will show up on the phone display and starts with +3170 or 070 (the area code for The Hague). BZ uses private numbers that are not displayed and BZ staff will never ask you by phone to transfer money or to provide personal financial information like bank account details or credit card numbers.
What to do in case of telephone fraud?
You can report the incident to the police and email a copy of the report to VCI@minbuza.nl.
