THE FOOD SECURITY THROUGH AGRIBUSINESS IN SOUTH SUDAN PROJECT (SSADP II)” IMPLEMENTED IN YAMBIO, BOR AND TORIT COUNTIES IN SOUTH SUDAN

SSADP II is a five year project that stated in July 2018 and will run until July 2023. The project is implemented by Cordaid in partnership with Agriterra and SPARK. It aims to improve food security, income, and employment of 10,000 farmer households in selected counties based on the Making Markets Working for the Poor (M4P) approach.

The project aligned with government priorities. Effectiveness of action research to support informed decision making was questioned. Coordination improved effectiveness. The efficiency of project implementation was generally high. COVID-19, Insecurity, logistical constraints, limited extension services, access to finance constraints, climatic shocks, crop pests and diseases, market constraints, and weak or no government policies affected the project. The project has had a high medium-term impact. Project benefits may be sustained. Sustainability was enhanced by:*Capacity building* Extension services* Access to loans* Support of cooperatives. Capacity strengthening of community structures, Institutional strengthening, Investing in Access to Finance and market linkages were recommended.
