How do I apply for state pension?
You can apply to the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) for state pension. You can do this online or by filling in a form. If you live abroad, you should apply to the SVB or to the authority responsible for state pension in your country of residence.
Applying for state pension in the Netherlands
You will automatically receive a letter from the SVB approximately five months before you reach state pension age explaining how to apply for state pension.
If you have not received this letter three months before you reach state pension age, you should contact the SVB yourself.
Applying for state pension from abroad
If you live abroad, you should apply to the SVB or to the relevant authority in your country of residence. The country where you live determines where you need to apply.
You do not need to take any action if the SVB already pays you another benefit (for example, under the Surviving Dependants Act). The SVB will contact you automatically.
