Diplomatic Dialogue for Equality Declaration 2025

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2025, we, the diplomatic missions of the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, Estonia, and Slovenia, to Austria, in cooperation with Austrian civil society organization ZARA Civil Courage and Anti-Racism Work and with the support of the National Coordinator against Discrimination and Racism of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Rabin Baldewsingh, came together for the Diplomatic Dialogue for Equality on Combatting Racism and Online Hate Speech.

This initiative seeks to unite embassies, Austrian government representatives, and civil society to foster cooperation, share best practices, and identify concrete areas of action on these critical global issues.

We support the 2025 theme of the International Day, “60th anniversary of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms Racial of Discrimination (ICERD)”, which calls for reflection on progress made against racial discrimination while highlighting ongoing challenges.

We stand up for equal rights of all persons - regardless of ethnic and social affiliation, skin colour, gender, language, religion, sexual orientation, age or disability, and are dedicated to combatting racism and online hate speech.

In light of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2025, we, the participating embassies, commit to make continued efforts to address systemic racism, racial discrimination and bias, and ensure the full inclusion of all racialized groups in our workplace.  We strive to be equitable and inclusive organizations that reflect our individual societies.

We welcome the outcome of the diplomatic dialogue and the suggestions made for further cooperation and joint action.
