Statement on the Netherlands Trade and Investment Office’s name change
The Netherlands Trade and Investment Office in Taipei has recently simplified its name to Netherlands Office Taipei to reflect the current activities of the office, which continues to be not only responsible for promoting economic cooperation, but also for promoting cultural and scientific cooperation between partners in the Netherlands and in Taiwan.
The name Netherlands Office Taipei better reflects the actual situation and is more in line with the names used by other European offices engaged in similar activities in Taipei.
The name change does not imply any change in the relations. The Government of the Netherlands strictly adheres to its One China Policy, and does not maintain diplomatic or political relations with Taiwan. The office in Taipei has been and will remain a non-diplomatic and private entity under the instruction of the Foundation for the Promotion of Export (Stichting tot Bevordering van de Uitvoer, SBU).
